MCA to amend licences for 4G launch

13 Jun 2014

Maltese regulator the Malta Communication Authority (MCA) has announced that it will amend 3G licences, allowing cellcos to deploy other technologies, such as Long Term Evolution (LTE). The move follows the European Commission’s decision 2012/688/EU regarding the harmonisation of the 1920MHz-1980MHz and 2110MHz-2170MHz frequency bands. The MCA will accept comments on the decision until 24 June 2014, following which it will proceed with issuing the amended licences.
