13 Jun 2014

MNC Group, the largest and the only integrated media, broadcasting, entertainment and telecoms group in Indonesia, has announced that – through its MNC Kabel Mediacom division – ZTE of China has helped it to deploy the country’s first ultra-high speed broadband internet service offering maximum download speeds of 200Mbps. Under the rollout, the Chinese vendor is supplying MNC Kabel Mediacom, itself a unit of Media Nusantara Citra (MNC Media), with fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) and Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Networks (GPON) technologies to deliver end users a richer, more interactive online experience. ZTE says that its end-to-end FTTH solutions deliver high bandwidth of up to 10Gbps and low-latency transmission (less than 1ms), providing a reliable and stable connection that is suitable for next generation multimedia and interactive applications. On completion, MNC Kabel Mediacom’s new network will extend to some two million homes passed in at least ten major Indonesian cities. The MNC Group is diversifying its business by entering the broadband internet and cable pay-TV markets in Indonesia.
