Bouygues set to implement 400Mbps fibre upgrade by end-June

Bouygues Telecom is reportedly planning to increase the maximum download transmission speeds available over its fibre-optic network to 400Mbps from 26 June, local news source DegroupNews reports. The operator will maintain its existing 50Mbps upload speeds, however.

Despite the anticipated transmission speed boost, TeleGeography notes that Bouygues is still trailing behind its major rivals in terms of download speed; by comparison, Orange France currently offers a fibre-optic connection with maximum down/uplink speeds of 500Mbps/200Mbps, while both SFR and Iliad (Free) provide their subscribers with lightning fast 1Gbps fibre-optic connections.
