12 Jun 2014

Malaysian mobile network operator Celcom Axiata has set aside MYR950 million (USD275 million) for capital expenditure this year, Bernama reports. With the cellco saying that it intends to use the funds to provide better network quality and improve data performance for customers, Cellcom CEO Datuk Seri Shazalli Ramly was cited as saying that, of the total, MYR400 million would directed towards the roll out of 2,014 LTE-compatible base stations by the end of this year. Meanwhile, Shazalli also said that Cellcom continues to work closely with partners to strengthen its network optimisation programme with a view to improving overall network performance, specifically reducing the number of dropped calls and enhancing its network coverage.

‘We always put customers at the centre of everything we do and it is crucial for us to undertake measures that will significantly help us meet our customers’ needs and enhance customer experience,’ the executive noted, adding: ‘We are determined to bring all our resources and put together the right infrastructure, people and culture to drive our transformation agenda.’
