9 Jun 2014

UK mobile network operator EE has further expanded 4G coverage, with the cellco naming 15 new locations as having been added to the network footprint, those being: Gateshead, Birkenhead, East Grinstead, Leighton Buzzard, Wallasey, South Shields, Wakefield, Coatbridge, Lisburn, Bangor (Northern Ireland), Newtownards, Omagh, Port Talbot, Neath and West Kirby. Notably, to mark the network development EE fitted the saddles of four donkeys at West Kirby beach with 4G Wi-Fi technology, turning them in to hotspots for a day on 7 June. Meanwhile, in making the announcement EE noted that the infrastructure expansion means its 4G services are now available to around 72% of the UK’s population, with the network available in 215 large towns and cities, and an additional 2,588 villages and small towns.
