Zain, Huawei strengthen strategic partnership with MoU

5 Jun 2014

Kuwaiti telecoms company Zain has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with international telecoms solutions provider Huawei Technologies, with a view to extending and enhancing both companies’ strategic partnership in the fields of telecoms and information technology, the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reports. The MoU reportedly addresses ‘future cooperation’ as well as the expansion and improvement of Zain’s network, although no further details on the deal were published.

According to a company representative, the agreement was sealed during Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah’s state visit to China. Previously, in February 2013 the two companies signed a MoU to launch a joint innovation centre in Kuwait, which will serve as a research hub for the advancement of 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology and associated LTE applications used by Zain’s customers in Kuwait and across the region.
