Bermuda’s CableVision says 100Mbps service ready ‘soon’

5 Jun 2014

Digital cable TV and broadband access provider Bermuda CableVision has announced that it will unveil its new premium 100Mbps internet service ‘soon’, although it declined to put a date on commercial launch. While its rivals have not been shy in announcing new tariff plans – several already offer a 25Mbps service – CableVision was slow to show its hand, saying only in an ad campaign that it is looking to introduce a 100Mbps option and a triple-play bundle. The cableco’s current price for its ‘Broadband Link Internet’ 25Mbps plan is USD140.

In July 2013 CableVision boosted its maximum upload speeds on its fastest Broadband Link Internet packages, without increasing the end user’s monthly costs. From that date, subscribers to the cableco’s 15Mbps and 25Mbps (download) tariff plans saw their uplink speeds increase from a maximum 2Mbps to 5Mbps, provided they bought/rented its new Motorola 6121 DOCSIS3.0 high speed cable modem to access the service.
