Go ahead and Jump: T-Mobile Poland prepares LTE launch

4 Jun 2014

T-Mobile Poland, which was formerly known as Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa (PTC), has announced that it will be launching 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) services tomorrow (5 June). The new offerings will be branded ‘Jump’, Telecompaper reports, with pricing to start at PLN39.99 (USD13.12) for a SIM-only option, rising to PLN149.99 per month for a package which includes unlimited voice calls and mobile data roaming. The operator claims around half of the smartphones it offers are already LTE-enabled, while it says its 4G network already covers 45% of the population and is expected to pass 50% coverage by the end of this month. Meanwhile, T-Mobile has also revealed that it is partnering with national broadcaster Telewizja Polską (TVP) to enable 4G customers to stream live matches from the football World Cup which begins in Brazil next week. T-Mobile is the largest of Poland’s cellular operators in subscriber terms, with a 27.5% share of the overall market at the end of March 2014, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database.
