UPC inks MVNO deal with 3 Ireland

3 Jun 2014

Cable networks services provider UPC Ireland has reportedly signed a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) agreement with Irish mobile network operator (MNO) H3 Ireland, trading as 3 Ireland. UPC’s move follows hard on the heels of the decision last week by the European Commission (EC) to approve 3 Ireland’s acquisition of fellow MNO 02 Ireland, subject to it agreeing to certain conditions – such as helping to set up MVNOs in the country. UPC chief executive Magnus Ternsjo said of the plan: ‘This is a strategic and exciting agreement which gives UPC the opportunity to provide another extraordinary product to consumers with the launch of mobile and to become a fully-fledged quad-play services provider.’
