Danish telecoms operator Telenor has announced that its Long Term Evolution (LTE) network has been extended to cover the village of Ingstrup, situated in Jammerbugt Municipality in North Jutland. According to a press release, subscribers in the area can now benefit from high speed broadband access on their smartphones and tablet PCs.
According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Telenor covers over 75% of the population with LTE via an infrastructure sharing venture, dubbed ‘TT-Netvaerket’, with domestic rival Telia. In June 2012 TT-Netvaerket paid DKK111.5 million (USD20.32 million) for 2×10MHz in the 800MHz band to complement its existing holdings at 2600MHz, which has already been used to deploy a 4G 1800MHz/2600MHz network in March 2013.
