StarHub to bundle 500Mbps fibre subscription with free 100Mbps cable broadband plan

29 May 2014

The Straits Times in Singapore reports that city-state operator StarHub is offering to bundle a free cable broadband subscription – with a maximum 100Mbps speed – for customers signing up to its fibre-optic 500Mbps service plan. The move is designed to address Wi-Fi slowdowns within the home, the telco said. Industry watchers note that StarHub’s move is possibly the first example in the world where a carrier is offering a solution to maximise wireless broadband coverage and speeds for its residential customers. StarHub’s offer comprises a 500Mbps fibre home broadband plan at SGD69.90 per month (USD55.7), which will come with a 100Mbps cable home broadband subscription free-of-charge and two complimentary premium wireless networking devices, including the all-new D-Link DIR-868L Wireless AC dual-band gigabit router.
