Kuwait’s third largest mobile operator by subscribers has rebranded from Wataniya to Ooredoo Kuwait, adopting the new identity of its Qatari parent company. ‘This is a major milestone in the history of our company and the beginning of our journey to the next level,’ the Kuwait Times quotes Eng Abdulaziz Fakhroo, general manager and CEO of Ooredoo Kuwait, as saying. ‘Rebranding will help us maintain growth momentum in a time where customers are expecting more from their operators. The Kuwaiti market is very receptive to change and new technological initiatives. We strongly believe that Ooredoo will lead this change and add value to our customers every step of the way.’ Ooredoo plans to introduce a revamped portfolio of services, including a range of e-commerce products, as well as initiatives to support social development across Kuwait. Ooredoo Group (formerly Qatar Telecom) officially announced its new brand name in February last year, and since then the new identity has been gradually rolled out across the group footprint.
