Nova Iceland extends 3G/4G coverage

Nova, Iceland’s second largest cellco in terms of subscribers, has announced that it has expanded the coverage of its 3G HSPA+ and Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks. The operator has installed new 3G+ base transceiver stations (BTS) in Frodarheidi, Husavikurfjall, Reykjahlid Myvatn, Skutustadir Myvatn, Smjorholsfell, Talknafjordur and Porshof, while the 4G LTE footprint was extended to Drekagil, Hafnarstraeti and Mimisbraut.

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, at end-March 2014 Nova’s HSPA+ network was present in Reykjavik, Thingvellir, Vopnafjordur, Dalvik, Hafnarfjordur, Akureyri, Namaskard, while mobile broadband access over Nova’s LTE network was available in the entire Reykjavik area, Arborg, Reykjanesbaer, Akureyri, Skorradale and Grimsnesi.
