According to Slovenian newspaper Finance.si, Turkey’s Turkcell and Russia’s MTS both remain in the running for a majority stake in incumbent Telekom Slovenije, having submitted expressions of interest by the end of last month, alongside the previously-reported preliminary bids of Germany’s Deutsche Telekom and investment funds including Providence Equity Partners, Cinven, CVC, Blackstone and Bain. It had been reported elsewhere at the beginning of May that MTS had declined to register its interest in the Slovenian tender, but this was contradicted by the latest report. Slovenia’s finance ministry indicated that a process of non-binding bids will start ‘soon’, ahead of a stake sale hoped for in the autumn.
