Telecom Italia Sparkle bolsters IP backbone reach in Brazil, Panama; upgrades Americas Backbone to 100Gbps

13 May 2014

Telecom Italia Sparkle (TI Sparkle), the international services arm of Telecom Italia Group, has announced the expansion of its global IP backbone with two new points of presence (PoPs) in Fortaleza, northern Brazil, and in Panama City, as well as the service upgrade of the Americas Backbone to 100Gbps. In a release, TI Sparkle confirmed that the new PoPs will increase its global backbone ‘capillarity’ and further improve the performance of Sparkle’s ‘Global IP Transit Service Seabone’, currently offered to content and service providers in the region. Meanwhile, the Americas Backbone upgrade will improve service quality to TI Sparkle customers in the region by introducing ‘efficiencies in provisioning and fault management’, in turn increasing network reliability and overall backbone capacity.
