TDC reports 5.2% y-o-y in Q1 revenues

7 May 2014

Danish telco TDC, the country’s leading operator in terms of subscribers, has published its financial report for the three months ended 31 March 2014, reporting a 5.2% year-on-year drop in revenue to DKK5.919 billion (USD1.104 billion), down from DKK6.241 billion in 1Q13. The contraction was mainly attributed to tougher regulation of international roaming charges and mobile termination rates (MTRs), which were slashed by nearly 68% in 2012, and a decline in revenues from domestic landline services. Meanwhile, EBITDA dropped 0.3% from DKK2.495 billion in 1Q13 to DKK2.488 billion in the first quarter of 2014, while gross profit declined by 2.5% to DKK4.340 billion.

In operational terms, TDC reported 2.184 million residential mobile revenue generating units (RGUs) at end-March 2014, down from 2.347 million reported in 1Q13; broadband RGUs dropped to 627,000, down from 642,000 at end-March 2013. Mobile APRU increased marginally to DKK116 in the period under review, while broadband APRU remained steady, at DKK181.
