Fujitsu planning to sell ISP unit Nifty Corp

14 Apr 2014

Tokyo-based IT equipment and services company Fujitsu is reportedly considering selling its broadband subsidiary Nifty Corp, as the company does not expect to witness significant growth at the internet service provider (ISP) in the future. According to unnamed sources cited by the Japan News, Fujitsu plans to focus its resources on its mainstay business: systems integration for corporate clients.

Nifty Corp is one of the leading broadband service providers in the country, reporting a 3.82 million Long Term Evolution (LTE) and WiMAX subscribers at end-December 2013, while fixed-line broadband uses reached 3.56 million, a marginal 0.9% increase year-on-year.
