Lean, mean telecoms machine: TI towers over competition with LTE, FTTC rollout in Pisa

11 Apr 2014

Telecom Italia (TI) has announced the expansion of its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) and fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) networks to Pisa. The company has invested around EUR 5 million (USD6.9 million) to lay 112km of fibre to 214 cabinets serving around 74,000 residents. As a result of the deployment, customers can now access broadband speeds of 30Mbps. In addition, TI has deployed 24 LTE base stations in the city, providing coverage to roughly 100% of the population.
