MIIT allows private broadband network trials

China’s telecoms regulator the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) is planning to trial privately-owned fixed broadband networks in the second half of 2014, Marbridge Daily writes, citing Cao Shumin, the director of the China Academy of Telecommunication Research (CATR), a department of MIIT. According to an unnamed industry source, MIIT has prepared draft documents for the trial and will announce the project shortly before accepting applications in H2 2014.
