Libertis users get mobile money service, alongside per-second billing

10 Apr 2014

Users of Libertis, the mobile network division of Gabon Telecom, itself a subsidiary of Maroc Telecom, received two new services from the start of April. Firstly, Libertis officially launched its mobile money services under the ‘Mobicash’ banner in partnership with Gabonese Union Bank (UGB), offering network users money transfers and other financial functions via their handsets (including making purchases, paying bills and recharging airtime). The cellco also launched per-second billing on 1 April, from which date all domestic mobile voice calls are charged at XAF1 (USD0.0021) per second, according to Agence Ecofin.
