African mobile tower company Helios Towers has said that it is looking at deploying infrastructure to improve in-building coverage for cellular operators in Tanzania. The firm’s local chief Norman Moyo told East African Business Week: ‘To building owners, developers and property managers, IBS [in-building solutions] becomes an amenity that is as important as electricity or fire extinguishers.’ Helios Towers Tanzania acquired 1,149 mobile towers from Vodacom Tanzania last year for an estimated USD75 million, while it has also bought sites from another local operator, Tigo.
