Timeturns extremely slowly for Yozma; 2Q14 launch planned

8 Apr 2014

Yozma Timeturns, which was granted a concession to operate within the Democratic Republic of Congo’s (DRC’s) wireless sector in July 2009 – but did not actually receive any frequencies until 2012 – has revealed plans to inaugurate its long-awaited mobile network in the second quarter of 2014. Agence Ecofin quotes acting director general Constant Mopanze as saying that the cellco’s launch is now in sight, after a multitude of legal and technical problems.

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Cyprus-based Timeturns Holding counts subsidiaries in Nepal (Spice Nepal), Smart Mobile (Burundi and Sierra Leone), Benson Informatics (Tanzania), Sure Telecom (Uganda) and Smart Axiata (Cambodia).
