Back of the NET! New ISP launches in Reunion

Reunion, a French overseas department situated in the Indian Ocean, has witnessed the launch of a new internet service provider (ISP), NET Ocean Indien. The start-up offers ADSL and voice-over-internet protocol (VoIP) connectivity, with maximum downlink transmission speeds of up to 20Mbps available. A basic internet connection is priced at EUR16.99 (USD23.28) per month, while the company’s entry-level ‘VoIP One’ package provides ten hours’ worth of calls to fixed line numbers in 50 destinations, with an additional hour of calls to mobile numbers, for EUR10 per month. According to DOM-TOM ADSL, the company is owned by Grenier des Mascareignes Ocean Indien (GMOI).
