Norwegian-backed cellco Telenor Myanmar has selected Ericsson to supply network equipment and managed services for its mobile network, the Swedish vendor announced in a press release. Under the terms of the deal, Ericsson will deploy 2G and 3G equipment and will provide multi-vendor managed services for five years to support the rollout of Telenor’s network. Telenor was awarded its mobile licence earlier this year, alongside fellow newcomer to the Myanmar market Ooredoo, and intends to achieve 90% population coverage with its cellular networks within five years.
