LIME Jamaica overhauling networks

28 Mar 2014

UK-backed cellco LIME Jamaica has announced that it will begin upgrading its wireless networks within the next two weeks, laying the groundwork for ‘smoother capacity and feature upgrades in the future’, The Gleaner quotes CTO Walter Brown as saying. The USD79 million overhaul will see the operator replace its existing equipment with the newer technology. The Kingston and St. Andrew areas will be the first to be upgraded, followed by Clarendon and Manchester in the second phase. LIME expects to have completed the work by mid-2015, with HSPA+ (which the operator describes as ‘4G’) to be made available in all parishes across Jamaica by that date.
