25 Mar 2014

Trans-Sahara for IT and Communications, an IT systems integrator in Libya, has confirmed that it has launched as a business-focused internet service provider (ISP). The company commenced its ISP activities on 1 March 2014 under the ‘1st NET’ brand name, offering services including internet access at 50Mbps, dedicated leased lines, VPN data links and service level agreements (SLA). Trans-Sahara hopes to expand its ISP services in the near-future, extending connectivity to all major cities in Libya by the end of 2014. Other plans include the provision of international leased lines and hosting services.

Trans-Sahara was founded in 2005 by associated companies of HB Group, a large Libyan private holding group which operates across various sectors. The company established itself providing IT/ICT solutions/services for businesses including large corporations in the Libyan market, while it has acquired a set of operating licences to become a telecom service/VAS provider, alongside the supply of telecoms equipment.
