Bulgarian network operator MobilTel (M-Tel), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Telekom Austria Group, is reportedly required to pay BGN60.2 million (USD42.56 million) in order to renew its operating licence, which expires in June 2014, local newspaper Capital reports. A spokesperson for the network operator said: ‘MobilTel will comply with the amendments to the regulation and will pay the required fee for renewal of its licence.’ Rival cellcos Cosmo Bulgaria (GloBul) and Vivacom (previously known as Bulgarian Telecommunications Company, BTC) will also be subject to the new tariff when their operating licences expire in 2021 and 2024, respectively.
