Unotel targets 300,000 pay-TV subscribers in first year

The Brazilian telco Unotel has unveiled plans to begin offering a satellite pay-TV service to the country’s smaller internet service providers (ISPs) from June this year. According to reports from Telecompaper, Unotel already has more than 100 contracts signed for the TV service, covering 490 municipalities in 20 states. The service, which will be offered by Unotel’s ISP partners under a single brand name across the country, will provide 160 TV channels, 40 of which will be high definition (HD). Unotel says it is targeting 300,000 subscribers in its first year of operation.
