PrimaCom snaps up DTK Deutsche Telekabel

19 Mar 2014

German cable network operator PrimaCom has announced the acquisition of smaller rival DTK Deutsche Telekabel, in a move that strengthens its position in the supply of telecoms and multimedia services to housing estates and their tenants. The purchase of DTK, which currently provides services to around 270,000 residential units, will increase the number of households served by PrimaCom to around 1.3 million. Commenting on the acquisition, PrimaCom’s CEO Joachim Grendel said the deal opens up prospects for further growth and the company’s positive business development as a national cable network provider with a regional focus. At the start of the year PrimaCom acquired Sy-Fra Antennentechnik, a cable company based in the east-central town of Plauen. Sy-Fra has deployed and operated cable networks for around 20 years, serving around 22,000 households mainly in Saxony and Thuringia, but also in Bavaria and other states.
