CNT spending near USD500m this year

State-backed Ecuadorian full-service operator Corporacion Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (CNT) has set an investment budget of USD499 million for full-year 2014, driven by upgrading and expanding its mobile, fibre-optic and internet access networks, as well as its pay-TV services, the company said in a statement reported by Telecompaper quoting local press.

CNT, which recently launched Ecuador’s first commercial 4G LTE mobile broadband service, remains the country’s smallest mobile operator by subscribers, although it has over half of the fixed broadband subscriber market, and also signed up more than 150,000 customers to its satellite (DTH) pay-TV service by the start of this year.
