UK-based group Liberty Global has announced that it has acquired the remaining 20% of its Chilean unit, triple-play provider VTR. Liberty purchased the stake from a subsidiary of Chilean banking firm CorpGroup in exchange for 10.1 million Liberty Global Class C ordinary shares, which had a market value of approximately USD422 million, according to a press release. Liberty Global’s CEO, Mike Fries comented on the deal: ‘Based on the solid foundation we have developed with Corp Group over the last few years, VTR will now enter its next phase of growth in the dynamic Chilean market.’
