As part of its extensive network ‘turbocharging’ programme, Omani telecoms operator Nawras has launched a fourth 3.5G data carrier in order to ensure access to high speed broadband and improve customer experience in high data traffic areas. Customers at Sultan Qaboos University, Al Amerat and Naseem Gardens were among the first to benefit from the improved service during the Muscat festival. ‘Nawras would like to extend its gratitude to the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) for their continued support and for allowing us to progress with our nationwide network modernisation programme’, commented Nawras CTO Wolfgang Wemhoff, adding: ‘The new data carrier was deployed during the Muscat Festival at the abovementioned three locations. We are now are able to manage high mobile traffic in those areas that need it most. We will continue to seamlessly and smoothly activate this service to provide Nawras customers with a fast broadband experience. As the first operator in Oman to introduce the third 3G+ carrier back in May 2013 across the Muscat governorate, we are now very proud to be the first to extend our 3G+ service even further by introducing the fourth 3G+ carrier.’
