In 2013, Thai quadruple-play operator True Corp’s consolidated service revenue (which excludes interconnection and network rental revenue) grew by 7.2% to THB66.3 billion (USD2.03 billion), driven in particular by growth in mobile data and fixed broadband services. Cellular service revenue continued a strong upward trend, growing 12.9% to THB35.2 billion in 2013; the key driver remained solid growth in the non-voice segment. Meanwhile, the rising popularity of smart devices together with True’s competitive device-bundling promotions yielded record yearly product sales of THB16.1 billion. The group gained approximately 1.9 million net new mobile customers during the year, taking its subscriber base to 22.9 million, of which 13.8% were post-paid, at the end of December. Fixed network division True Online’s service revenue increased 1.9% to THB28.7 billion in 2013, due to broadband internet revenue which rose by 17.3% to THB14.4 billion as a result of continued solid growth in both consumer and corporate broadband segments. True Online’s high-value convergence offerings were lauded as a major factor in the growth statistics, together with recent broadband network expansion – reaching 4.3 million homes passed in 61 Thai provinces by year-end, helping to drive its fixed broadband subscriber base up to 1.8 million.
