Claro preparing pre-paid LTE offer

4 Mar 2014

America Movil’s (AM’s) Brazilian mobile unit Claro is preparing a launch of pre-paid 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) services later this year. A report from local news portal Teletime says that the operator is looking to replicate its existing 3G and HSPA+ offers for pre-paid users, but at a slightly higher price. Claro currently charges USD0.50 a day for access to its 3G network and USD0.99 for access to the quicker HSPA+ system. Claro has not revealed when it is likely to roll out the pre-paid LTE offer. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Claro launched 2.6GHz LTE services in December 2012 and had deployed networks in 23 cities by the end of last year.
