3 Mar 2014

Vodafone New Zealand has announced that it has signed up more than 300,000 customers to its 4G-enabled plans since launching Long Term Evolution (LTE) in February 2013. Of this figure, around 30,000 subscribers are connected via pre-paid plans, following the introduction of pay-as-you-go 4G in mid-December. Total data use across the Vodafone network grew by 70% between July 2013 and January 2014, whereas 4G data use quadrupled during the six-month period in question.

Since launching LTE technology on 28 February 2013, Vodafone has rolled out 4G networks in 36 locations across New Zealand, with that figure set to rise to 48 by April, following expansion to the likes of Dunedin, Hastings, Invercargill, Napier, Nelson, Rotorua and Whangarei over the coming months.
