TIM Brasil and Oi look to share 3G networks

3 Mar 2014

The Brazilian cellular operators TIM Brasil and Oi have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) which could see them expanding their existing radio access network (RAN) infrastructure sharing agreement to 3G technology. The firms currently have an agreement in place which covers 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology, but they are now seeking regulatory approval to extend the sharing to 3G networks as they both look to meet minimum coverage targets as laid out in the 3G concessions they won in 2007.
