Orange extends VDSL2 connectivity to Reunion

28 Feb 2014

Orange Reunion has introduced VDSL2 technology in the Indian Ocean territory of Reunion, supporting theoretical down/uplink transmission speeds of up to 50Mbps/15Mbps. The French-backed provider has clarified that the top-level speeds will only be available to customers within a close proximity to one of Orange’s telecoms exchanges, although around 35,000 premises are believed to be eligible for the service. The upgrade is available to all existing ‘Livebox Magik+’ triple-play users, with tariffs starting at EUR59.90 (USD81.96) per month.

As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, earlier this month Orange launched VDSL2 technology in the Caribbean nations of Guadeloupe, Martinique and French Guiana.
