The Czech Republic cellular operators T-Mobile and Telefonica O2 have opened negotiations over the possibility of sharing 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks. The firms currently operate LTE networks in the 1800MHz spectrum band, but late last year both companies won 4G-capable frequencies in the 800MHz and 2600MHz bands. They are now looking at creating a venture which will see them share their new LTE networks nationwide, with the exception of the cities of Prague and Brno where they will roll out separate infrastructure. T-Mobile will deploy and operate the shared network in the western part of the Czech Republic, while Telefonica will focus on the east. The pair already collaborate on 2G and 3G network sharing.
