KPN to trial LTE TV services

24 Feb 2014

Netherlands telco KPN has revealed plans to launch a pilot ten-channel TV service over its Long Term Evolution (LTE) 4G mobile network by mid-2014. The TV Everywhere offering will carry a monthly fee, Broadband TV News reports, but the video streaming will not count towards usage of the subscriber’s monthly data allowance. Meanwhile, KPN says it is to withdraw its Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) service Digitenne; sales of the offering have already ceased and existing subscribers are being encouraged to migrate to KPN’s IPTV platform. KPN’s licence to run Digitenne expires on 1 February 2017.
