21 Feb 2014

Virgin Mobile Australia, a subsidiary of the country’s second-largest cellco by subscribers Optus, is now offering 4G services to prepaid customers via its parent company’s network, ZDNet reports. Customers signed up to the mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) are now able to access Optus’ 4G 1800MHz Frequency Division LTE (FD-LTE) network and its 2300MHz Time Division LTE (TD-LTE) network, it is understood. In order to benefit from the enhanced speeds offered by the 4G infrastructure Virgin Mobile customers will need to opt in by contacting the provider. Previously, the virtual operator began providing 4G access to its post-paid subscribers back in April 2012.
