Final 4G public tender documents published

12 Feb 2014

Slovenia’s independent telecoms regulator, Agency for Communications Networks & Services (AKOS, or Agencija za Komunikacijska Omrezja in Storitve) – which changed its official name from APEK late last month – has issued the final public tender documents for applicants in the upcoming auction of mobile frequency licences in the 800MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 2100MHz and 2600MHz bands, incorporating amendments and clarifications as published in the Official Journal of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 10/2014 of 7 February 2014. The application documents allow bids to be placed across the five spectrum bands with a choice of three different ‘scenarios’ – ‘default’, ‘alternative scenario 1’ and ‘alternative scenario 2’, each offering a different combination of frequency blocks, although each option carries the overall spectrum cap of 2×105MHz across all FDD bands on offer including existing licensed 2100MHz spectrum. Each applicant’s bid must be accompanied by a EUR300,000 (USD410,000) bond. The multi-band simultaneous 4G (technology-neutral) licence auction is scheduled to be held on 25 March 2014, whilst the deadline for accepting bids was previously announced as 17 February.
