Myanmar’s Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) is planning to award a new telecoms licence to Yatanarpon Teleport (YTP), Eleven Myanmar writes, citing the MCIT. The announcement follows the allocation of licences to the market’s two newest entrants Qatari telco Ooredoo and Telenor of Norway, which received their concessions late last month. The foreign duo won their concessions in 2013, although the distribution of operating licences was delayed by the government’s introduction of a new Telecommunications Law. Local incumbent operator YTP is set to receive a new communications licence in line with the new legislation.
