DT taking full control of Czech unit

The German telecoms group Deutsche Telekom is reportedly moving to buy out the 39.23% stake it does not already own in its Czech subsidiary T-Mobile Czech Republic. The deal, worth an estimated EUR800 million (USD1.09 billion) according to a report from Reuters, will see the German firm take over shares currently held by a consortium of investors led by private equity group Mid Europa Partners. Deutsche Telekom says the acquisition, which is subject to regulatory approval, will have no impact on group revenue and EBITDA because T-Mobile Czech Republic is already fully consolidated. The unit is the largest provider of cellular services in the country, claiming more than 40% of all subscribers at the end of September 2013, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database.
