The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has served notice on CDMA mobile operator CityCell warning that its licence may be cancelled if it does not give a valid reason (within 30 days) for withholding dues of more than BDT2.55 billion (USD32.2 million), which represent 2G licence renewal costs, contributions to the social obligation fund and overdue regulatory fees. The regulator may now appoint a ‘certificate officer’ to CityCell in line with the Public Demand Recovery Act as the company has missed all payment deadlines, Teralight.com reports.
