Deutsche Telekom (DT), the owner of a 40% stake in Hellenic Telecommunications Organisation (OTE), has expressed renewed interest in acquiring the 10% stake in the Greek incumbent telco that belongs to the state. Yesterday, the German group’s head Timotheus Hoettges met with Greek prime minister Antonis Samaras and the management of OTE and reportedly told them that a new acquisition would be beneficial to DT, writes Ekathimerini.com. Hoettges informed Samaras about DT’s plans for the development of the OTE group in Greece, and said that ‘OTE constitutes an investment of strategic significance with long-term prospects,’ adding that the Greek firm ‘has achieved its operation transformation into a high-performance company with healthy financial figures and low borrowing.’
