Dutch cableco Ziggo has posted revenue of EUR1.565 billion (USD2.1 billion) for 2013, up 1.8% year-on-year. Sales were boosted by continued growth in revenue generating units (RGUs) for internet and telephony services, a price increase for the consumer market effective from 1 February, and the contribution from Ziggo Mobile, which launched in September. EBITDA grew 5.5% year-on-year to EUR887 million, partly due to higher revenue and the IPO costs incurred during 2012 not being repeated in 2013.
Meanwhile, Ziggo’s broadband subscriber base increased 6% year-on-year to 1.855 million at 31 December, while voice telephony subscribers increased by 6.9% to 1.565 million.
The company also confirmed that it remained in takeover discussions with Liberty Global, and that talks had ‘progressed’. Liberty Global already holds a 28.5% stake in Ziggo.
