Verizon 4Q13 revenues increase 3.4% to USD31.1bn

US telecoms giant Verizon Communications has reported revenues of USD31.065 billion for the three months ended 31 December 2013, a 3.4% increase year-on-year. Operating income for the period under review reached USD12.063 billion, with Verizon reporting net income of USD7.916 billion. For full-year 2013, Verizon’s revenues totalled USD120.550 billion, an increase of 4.0% on an annualised basis. Net income for the twelve-month period was USD23.547 billion.

In operational terms, Verizon Wireless reported 1.653 million net retail additions in 4Q13, including 1.573 million post-paid connections, to end the year with 102.799 million retail connections. Further, the company reported around nine million Long Term Evolution (LTE) device activations in the three months ended 31 December, to take its 4G user base to well over 40 million. In its fixed line business, Verizon added 126,000 net new fibre-optic ‘FiOS Internet’ connections and 92,000 net new ‘FiOS TV’ connections in 4Q13, increasing its subscriber totals to 6.072 million (internet) and 5.262 million (TV) respectively. Overall broadband connections totalled 9.015 million at year-end 2013, a 2.5% y-o-y increase.
