Libya approaches ITU for assistance in overhauling ICT sector

A delegation led by Libya’s deputy communications minister Mohamad Benrasali has reportedly approached the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for assistance in establishing a regulatory framework that will attract investors and accelerate the rebuilding and upgrading of the war-torn country’s infrastructure. The ITU has committed to sending a team to Libya to appraise the situation, while ITU secretary general Hamadoun Toue commented: ‘I am delighted to see Libya coming back to the world stage, and seeing the enthusiasm of its new leaders who have an impressive depth of knowledge.’
