Optical transmission equipment vendor Infinera has announced that the Australia Japan Cable (AJC) consortium, which includes Telstra, AT&T, NTT, Verizon and Softbank, has deployed Infinera’s DTN-X packet optical transport networking platform across its 12,700km submarine cable network, which connects Australia, Guam and Japan. According to a vendor press release, the platform features long haul super-channels with SD-FEC based on the Photonic Integrated Circuit and the FlexCoherent Processor, supporting up to 500Gbps in a single line card. The DTN-X upgrade is also equipped with 1Tbps slot to support higher capacity super-channel line cards for future scaling needs.
