Cogeco reports fiscal Q1 internet, bundling growth

14 Jan 2014

Canadian cableco Cogeco has reported that in its fiscal first quarter ended 30 November 2013 it added 6,920 net new broadband internet customers for a total of 668,257, although it saw net losses over the three-month period in both TV users – down by 7,122 to 827,649 – and fixed telephony lines – reduced by 4,418 to 479,596, which it attributed to ‘promotional offers of competitors combined with the tightening of [Cogeco’s] customer credit controls’. At 30 November 2013, 68% of Cogeco’s Canadian cable services customers subscribed to two or more services (up from 66% in November 2012); 32% of all its cable network users subscribed to a single-play package (34% in 2012), 32% double-play (30% in 2012) and 36% triple-play (unchanged in a year).
